Larry Sheehan, ASLA, LEED AP
Working as a landscape architect for more than 30 years has provided Larry with the opportunity to be involved in a variety of residential projects from single family custom residences; model homes; community and recreation centers; to large master planned communities, apartment villages and camps. He managed and was an integral part of the design team for some of the most recognized and successful master planned communities in Southern California including: Stonecrest Village, a 190 acre master planned community in San Diego and One Ford Road, an 80 acre luxury home community in Newport Beach which was recognized as best master planned community in the nation, among other projects.
He was principal in charge of a $3 million hardscape renovation at Mission Valley Center for Westfield. Larry also developed the outdoor function spaces at Callaway Winery in Temecula.
Larry has gained extensive experience in resort design. In 2008, he completed the Beach Village expansion of cottages and villas at the historic Hotel del Coronado—including the addition of the Orange Avenue Entry Garden; and the medians on R.H. Dana Avenue. Larry was also an integral part of the design teams for Rancho Valencia’s casita expansion in Rancho Santa Fe, Westin Kierland in Scottsdale, and Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas and the landscape renovation for Hyatt Suites Palm Springs.
Larry has a nearly 30 year relationship with Irvine Company’s apartment division. He oversaw 2 new communities in San Jose (almost 1,000 units on structure) and two additional apartment projects in Westpark-Irvine. In the last 20 years, Larry has overseen over 32 landscape renovations for Irvine Company apartment division. Projects included new dog parks, tot lots (renovation projects and new designs), renovating pool areas, evaluating mature landscapes and creating new phased landscape master plans. In 2023, Larry started working with national apartment owner, LivCor, to transform water thirsty landscapes into water smart landscapes and help LivCor take advantage of available water rebates. Verde also completed the Basis of Design document for LivCor’s Southwest division.
Additional current work includes a school sports field renovation, median landscape renovation for the City of San Diego, commercial office renovation, new custom homes, renovations for single family residences and HOA renovations.
He has also guided the new master plan process for the rebuilding of Whispering Winds Catholic Camp in the local mountain town of Julian. The 161-acre site consisted of 6 projects including new dining, meeting, recreational and lodging facilities.
His accomplishments as a skilled plantsman and horticulturist are many, evidenced by the successful completion of projects throughout Southern and Northern California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii and China.
