Whispering Winds Sacred Spaces

Whispering Winds has a variety of sacred spaces, both indoors and outdoors. Mary’s Grotto is an outdoor amphitheater where Catholic Mass and other activities are often celebrated in an old oak grove. The statue of “Mary from Cana to Calvary” sculpted by Beverly Paddleford does not intrude on the outdoor worship space, but is elevated in the background, while being very visible when guests approach the grotto. A gathering space in front of the statue includes several benches allowing for prayer and contemplation.

“The Master Teacher and Children” also sculpted by artist Beverly Paddleford, depicts Jesus with arms outstretched about to embrace several children running towards him including their dog. This composition creates the focal point between Founders Hall and the Chapel, creating a sacred space to sit and reflect on life.
